Sekolah Kebangsaan Assumption was a national primary school located in Butterworth, Penang. The school will ceased operations from March 2022 after the end of school term.

History[edit | edit source]

SK Assumption was established by La Salle Brothers in 1933. It was originally located in Jalan Assumption until 1995 when the site was sold to property developers. After that the school shared premises with SK Sungai Nyior until the current location was completed in 2008.

The new location was situated on a private land owned by Sri Avenue Sdn Bhd. On 3 November 2021, the company had accepted the purchase offer for the school building and site from third parties and had requested the Education Ministry to vacate the site as soon as possible. On 24 January 2022, the Education Ministry has requested the school to shut down at the end of the school term in March. The Education Ministry had also decided to relocate the students and teachers of SK Assumption to neighbouring schools such as SK Kuala Perai, SK Sungai Nyior, SK St Mark, Butterworth, SK Khir Johari, and SK St Mark, Perai. There were 53 students studying at SK Assumption at the time.
